Types of Rooms

 TYPES OF ROOMS IN HOTEL: 

In a hotel, Rooms are the main product or in other words is the centre of earning for  a particular hotel property Side by side it is also regarded as the one of more perishable and highly revenue generating product of the Hotel. 

This blog is whole about how easily we can understand the room terminology of a Hotel for example as easy as rooms of our House because when we take examples from small small things as this would become lot easier to be understood. One more important thing is that the knowledge of different types of rooms in hotel will benefit one to get selected for better positions and can score good marks. This blog is mainly focused on the types of rooms with confusing names. 

TYPES OF ROOMS IN HOTEL :

* Cabana: This is a type of room in a Hotel which is generally situated near a swimming pool or having a swimming pool inside the room. It is generally located in resorts Hotel Type.

* Adjoining room: These are two rooms, which is located right next to each other in the same row like  room no 2, 4 located next to each other. They are not connected with same door. 

* Inter-connecting Room: These are two  different rooms that are connected to eachother by a single door. Generally these types of rooms are preferred by a family or group. 

* Lanai room: This type of room is located on the top floor of the building and have a beautiful landscape view from there with a spacious porch. This word is generally originated from Hawaii and also is a name of one of its Island. 

* Pent House: This is also a top floor room which is generally regarded as the most land spacious.  Now this term is generally denoted to the rooms in Apartment Hotels and also used in real state flats.

( NOTE: Do not confuse with because in recent, the top most room with spacious porch is called lanai Room).

* Sico room/ Multipurpose/ Murphy Room: The definition of all of these rooms are same, as it states that this room is used for setting purpose in day time and for sleeping at night with the help of Murphy bed. 

* Effenciency Room: This is type of room which contains seperate Kitchen, Dining area. This room is generally accommodated by long stayer or Families.

* Studio Room: This is a type of room which contains a studio couch can be converted to bed and also contains a seperate Kitchenette. Do not confuse with Murphy room or effenciency room.

* Parlor Room: It is type of room generally used for meeting purpose it does not have any beds only contains chair and tables for meeting. This is also called sallon in European terms. 

*Duplex Room : These are two different types of rooms connect with a staircase. It generally contains a guest room  and a drawing room.

* Double-Double Room: This is room which contains two double beds or two queen beds. 

* Handicapped Rooms: As per the law of India. Some of the rooms in a hotel are specially build for the Handicapped people which contains iron support bars in whole room for their support.

* Hospitality Room: This is usually used by in house , conferences or business guests as they want to entertain their own guest or meet their relatives or business clients.

* Siberia : This is a term which is used for interior quality room for example room near stair case. 

These are some common room categories which can confuse a student while in an interview or his exams.
