The Siddhachal Caves
One of the alluring tourist attraction of Gwalior is the Jain Siddhachal Caves of Gwalior situated in the Urvahi Valley of Gwalior Fort. There are about 100 statues of about 50 to 55 ft long across the whole valley. The statues as per the historical records been build and carved out in between 7th to 15th Century and some of them are carved out in the reign of Tomar King of Gwalior in 1500AD. The statues which sizes from 50 cm to 55 ft are of Jain Tirthankaras, which are said to be the Jain spiritual Gurus. Meaning of Tirthankaras are the 'teerth' a spiritual destination and Tirthankara is a person who help someone to gain the spiritual knowledge and to cross the river of Mortal world with is full of pain and sorrow. These magnificent figures will give you the shadow of Ancient Architecture and Worship.
