THE TEMPLE OF MANGALGARH- BHOLESHWAR MAHADEV TEMPLE



                                                


The Bholeshwar Mahadev temple one of the gems in the ancient architecture of Indian history. This temple is been dedicated for the worship of lord Shiva. The temple is situated approximately 54 kms from Pune city. It is situated at the up hill of Yewat. Travelling up to the temple is in itself is an beautiful journey. while going there you will come across beautiful scenic views the ghats of maharastra which are visible from the distance, in the rainy season the surroundings covers itself in a green blanket and the smell of jaggery all over the place.



History: According to Hindu mythology it is been said that this place is been constructed by the panch pandava for the worship of lord shiva some legend also has it that, Its been constructed in the 8th Century AD but the history traced it around 1208 AD. Where, It is been said that it is been build by the Yadav kings who ruled over Deccan having their capital in Devagiri and been protected by them.



Architecture: The temple is been build in Indo-Aryan style as when you will come across the temple it is been visible that the temple is been covered by a fort structure, Remains of which is easily seen in the area. One of the interesting fact about the temple was constructed using black basalt (AA type) rock, which stands out against the surrounding brownish basalt, known for its high calcium (lime - Chuna) content. This fort around the temple was rebuild built in 1629. This strategic fort was intended to oversee and control the city. One of the beautiful aspects of the temple is beautiful natural lighting, which makes it much more pleasing when it falls on the sculptures of Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, and lord Kartikeya which are also their in their female attire. The temple is also celebrated for its exquisite architecture and the intricate carvings that adorn its walls and ceilings. Its design is reminiscent of the Indo-Aryan architectural style that flourished during the Yadava rule, showcasing the elegance and craftsmanship of that era.



                               


The Historical Folk lore: There is a famous folk lore story that states, when there was prasad of peda are been offered to lord Shiva, There was one missing from that. Therefore, When you will visit this temple you will get the prasad of pedas to offer to lord Shiva, which is different than prasad offered at other temples of Lord Shiva. 

Its advisable to visit lord Bholeshwar mahadev temple in Rainy season.
