GROUND ZERO FOR '0': CHATURBHUJ TEMPLE, GWALIOR (MADHYA PRADESH)

                               CHATURBHUJ  TEMPLE

So, you should be wondering why I have taken this title for my blog, because today I will be sharing information about a Historical place, Which have more to tell rather than its architecture or its creator. Yes, I am talking about none other than the magnificent and historically important place called 'CHATUR BHUJ' temple located in the premises of Gwalior fort in Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh). It looks like an ordinary small temple in India but the fact that differentiate it from others as it being containing the oldest written inscription of '0' in world, Which directly depicts that India has not only contributed to the field of astrology, art, culture, architecture, economics, politics and language also in mathematics as well. It is proved by many of written ancient facts that some of the most prominent languages of the world has taken some of their words from the ancient and indelible language of India which is Sanskrit for example some of the words of English like Pancha= penta(five), Raja= Royal, Matr= Mother and there are several uncountable examples not only in English language as well as in Latin, Greek and Arabic. Instead here we will talk about the ancient historical written Inscription of '0' in world. One day as we had planned a family trip to Gwalior fort, it was not the first time when i was visiting Gwalior Fort, but that was the first time when I got know about a small temple residing inside the premises of Gwalior fort and that was Chaturbhuj Temple, earlier I have seen the signboard in the fort premises indicating about the Gwalior's first zero.

As it is shown in the image. altogether contributing to many of the fields, India has also contributed to the field of mathematics, In Indian peninsular, if you talk about ancient mathematics one legendary name will came to your mind that is 'Aryabhatta' prominently known by the name 'Aryabhatiya' since there is no written evidence of existence of aryabhatta thus a small quote fits perfectly in this matter is that "those who owes power dominate the flow of history". But, one cannot decline a fact that by destroying evidences you cannot dominate the mouth of truth. However, Talking about this temple, It was build in 876 AD by Gurjara pratihara King Bhojadeva. This temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu and mata Laxmi made by the Nagara architecture contains four pillars in front of the temple, the outer walls of the temple contains the beautiful carvings of dancing lord Ganesha, Krishna Lilas, Mata parvati, Kartikeya and Astadigpalas.

The inside of the temple contains the one white stone Idol of Lord Vishnu which was later disintegrated by the attacks of  Mughals by Aurangzeb. The most interesting part of temple is inside the temple only as it contains the which is the evidence that India is been using the number system form a long time. describing about some of the facts about the inscription, It is written in the Bhakushali language, which is prominently known as the writing related to mathematics, though the inscription is deciphered and it is written the inscription that 270 Hastas is been allotted to the Temple premises and 1 hasta= 1.0 Feet. These 270 hastas are allotted for the flowers to prepare the garlands from it and the numbers of garlands prepared from the flowers are also written in it is 70 garlands per day.

from that time the temple is standing on its foundation explaining about the untold historical treasures of India. As told earlier this only a small temple located in smaller area of Gwalior fort. On the other hand there are several lot of obscure places within the Gwalior fort to be discovered and India is not too small. I would like to end this post with a small thought:
